Visit a National Park for Free in 2019

We’re already a few days into the new year and hoping that you have started your list of #parkchasing goals for 2019.

Planning to visit new parks?

Returning to some favorites?

Whatever your goals, we hope that you strive for new experiences in our national parks.

Once again the National Park Service plans to offer “fee-free” days this year to help you meet those goals. These dates are a historic tradition, allowing all Americans to access our protected spaces and visit a national park for free.  Of the 418 units in the National Park Service just over 100 park units charge some entrance fee. Entrance fees range from $5 to $35 per person.

The 5 Free Days of 2019

In 2018 the NPS offered 4 days without entrance fee charges. That number increased for 2019, with the addition of the August 25, the anniversary of the National Park Service.

Mark your calendars and plan to visit a national park for free on one of these dates in 2019:

  • Monday, January 21 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Saturday, April 20 – First Day of National Park Week/National Junior Ranger Day
  • Sunday, August 25 – National Park Service Anniversary
  • Saturday, September 28 – National Public Lands Day
  • Monday, November 11 – Veterans Day
Add to your collection of park sign photos on the fee-free days of 2019!
