Statue of Liberty National Monument in Pictures

Millions of Americans are heading to the polls today.  However you feel about the candidates, one thing can be certain we all care deeply about our country.  Today Park Chasers is celebrating our enduring democracy by showcasing one of our most patriotic icons: The Statue of Liberty.

Formally titled “The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World” the Statue of Liberty has been a National Monument since 1933.  No matter how you feel about Election Day, we hope these images remind you of the greatness we are fortunate to be a part of.

“Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.”
― Emma Lazarus

“And you have to remember that I came to America as an immigrant. You know, on a ship, through the Statue of Liberty. And I saw that skyline, not just as a representation of steel and concrete and glass, but as really the substance of the American Dream.” Daniel Libeskind
